Thursday, Sept. 24 at 10:30 am – Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy and Camp Rockmont to celebrate the new 336-acre conservation easement

We are so excited about the recent, successful land protection effort to preserve forested mountain ridges, water sources, habitat, and scenic beauty on the Camp Rockmont property. You are invited to a special event to celebrate this project!
On Thursday, Sept. 24 at 10:30 am – Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy and Camp Rockmont will host a brief press conference event and small gathering to celebrate the new 336-acre conservation easement protecting habitat and water resources on the Camp Rockmont property, overlooking Lake Eden.

Itinerary:
Arrivals – 10 to 10:30 am
Event Program – 10:30 to 11:30 am. Speakers include: Will Summer (NC Land and Water Fund), Terri Wells (Buncombe County Commissioner), Matt Crawford and Chuck Flourny representing Camp Rockmont, and SAHC’s Executive Director Carl Silverstein and Land Protection Director Michelle Pugliese. We anticipate approximately 30 minutes for the speakers, followed by Q&A and photo ops.
After the speaking program, there will be an opportunity for attendees to choose from two OPTIONAL guided hikes to the conserved land, graciously hosted by representatives from Camp Rockmont and Lake Eden Preserve, LLC. More details TBA
Please follow directional signage and instructions from Camp Rockmont staff to the parking area for the event. The closest restrooms will be approximately 20-30 yards below the parking area; the event speaking program will be held at Inspiration Point, a short walk uphill from the parking area. Please see the attached location map for reference, and wear shoes comfortable for walking. Also, please let me know if you have any special needs or requests for accessibilty.
